Braces are the best way to correct a smile for people with crooked or misaligned teeth. Braces provide gentle pressure to the teeth in order to give them a straighter appearance. This not only leads to a more beautiful smile, but can give a person more self-confidence about the way they look.  Braces may also help improve the overall oral health of an individual.

Braces are typically composed of ceramic, plastic, or metal brackets, which are bonded to the teeth and are designed to pull the teeth into a new direction through a system of bands and wires.

Traditional braces have evolved over the years as they have become more comfortable to wear and more pleasing in appearance. For example, you can now choose between metal or clear braces, as well as the colors of the bands that surround them. Also, new advances and technology in orthodontics, like Invisalign®, offer alternatives to traditional braces by using clear, removable teeth aligners that can be removed while you eat and drink.

Although traditional braces usually take approximately one to three years to achieve the desired effect, the result that braces bring to the appearance of your teeth can last for decades!
